Roundfish (Coldwater) Species

Cod is of course often regarded as the world’s greatest coldwater fish, and rightly so.  But, there are nine more members of the Cod Family to explore, along with more coldwater roundfish species.

However, there is a host of other coldwater species which are also very much worth investigating as an alternative, be it for reasons of cost, sustainability or just to add interest and excitement to a menu!

Particularly deserving of consideration are Monkfish, Haddock and John Dory.

Plus there are many less well-known and very much under-rated fish, for instance Pollack (and Pollock!), Whiting, Gurnards and Mullet, as well as a number of incredibly healthy Pelagic, oily species such as Herring, Mackerel and Whitebait.
