Engraulis encrasicolus and Sprattus sprattus

Found in temperate waters all around Europe.

Mainly sold filleted and preserved in oil, as they are small and fragile and therefore difficult to transport whole.

Sprat are fished seasonally around the UK coast and the North Sea.
